Bread & Roses film screening: Food Chains

Date:

Tuesday, December 8, 2015 - 6:00pm to Tuesday, November 5, 2024 - 11:36am

Free and open to all!

There is more interest in food these days than ever, yet there is very little interest in the hands that pick it. Farmworkers, the foundation of our fresh food industry, are routinely abused and robbed of wages. In extreme cases they can be beaten, sexually harassed or even enslaved – all within the borders of the United States.

Black Friday Walmart Protests

Date:

Friday, November 27, 2015 - 12:00am to Tuesday, November 5, 2024 - 11:36am

Stand with Walmart workers on Black Friday fasting for $15/hour & full-time. While the Waltons own more wealth than the bottom 42% of our country, Walmart workers are struggling every day to put food on the table. This year, OUR Walmart members are calling on the community to join them in the #FastFor15.

#FastFor15 is fifteen days of action led by Walmart workers fasting at Walton homes, Board of Directors homes and Walmart stores and offices culminating in another national day of action this Black Friday.

Walmart Action in Solidarity with Tazreen Fire Victims

Date:

Tuesday, November 24, 2015 - 12:00am to Tuesday, November 5, 2024 - 11:36am

On November 24, 2012, a preventable fire at Tazreen Fashions, a factory in Ashulia, in the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh, claimed the lives of at least 112 garment workers who were trapped inside. At the time of the fire, the majority of the clothing made at Tazreen was Walmart's. However, three years later, Walmart still hasn't paid even a single penny of compensation owed to the injured workers and families of the deceased.

National Day of Action: Fight for 15

Date:

Tuesday, November 10, 2015 - 12:00am to Tuesday, November 5, 2024 - 11:36am

On November 10, join the U.S. national day of action to support $15 an hour and union rights. As fast-food workers across the country go on STRIKE on November 10, people across the country will be coming together to stand with them, with child care workers and with all 64 million underpaid workers making less than $15 an hour.

Together we’re turning the tide in favor of working people and our families. And we’ll need everyone’s help – including yours – to make this a reality.
